Diver Discovers Rarest Albino Species That Stunned The Biologists

The diver was absolutely stunned after seeing an absolutely rare albino sea cucumber that he mistook for a bag of plastic at first sight. Mihalis Vagousis, 47, was scuba diving at Avdira beach, in Xanthi Greece when he spotted this weird sea creature.

The brown sea cucumbers are found everywhere among all other sea cucumbers known as horholothurian whereas the albino cucumbers are absolutely rare. These sea cucumbers play a very crucial role in cleaning the ocean water.

Mihalis, the diver, who is actually a Military worker initially took its photograph without much thought having seen tons of plastic already scattered across the ocean but sea cucmber’s weird shape made him to look at it for while.

He said: “When I first saw it, I thought it might have been some plastic rubbish so I kept exploring.

“But at the back of my mind I was thinking it could have been something else as its shape was unusual, so I decided to go back and have another look.

“When I realised what it was, I was left speechless.

“Luckily I had my camera with me and was able to capture it.

He asked the local fishermen but none had ever seen something like that before. He had took these pictures three years ago, but recently he sent the pictures of 10-inch long albino aquatic creature to marine biologists and only this month they actually realized how rare it was.

He was absolutely surprised when the biologists told him that his findings were incredibly ‘unbelievable’because such ‘healthy’ animal’s chances of survival were almost zero.
