Understanding which animals in the world should try to be petted and which animals should be well and truly left alone is definitely something that should be on your todo list if you’re travelling around the world or just travelling to a country you know to be dangerous. Well, you’re in luck! We’ve come up with a list of 10 animals that are actually far more dangerous than they first appear. They may look cute or innocent, but their venom, bite or attack can seriously wound or even kill humans. Let’s find out what they are…
1. Blue Ringed Octopus
The Blue-Ringed Octupus is one of the most beautiful fish in the sea. Its name is instantly understandable after you see it’s cute rings on the back of it that appear to light up sometimes when in danger. The venom from this thing’s bite however, is enough to kill a fully-grown man in minute of its bite. One Blue Ringed Octopus has enough venom to kill 26 adults.
A platypus may be a fun looking animal and be something some would consider cute. However, one little bite with their venomous bill and they could kill a small child. Most adults will feel severe discomfort for months after coming into contact with one of these little mammals.
3. Cone Snail
The Cone Snail may look like a small and innocent little shell to add to your collection, but one little hit with this thing’s tentacles and you could be paralysed and even dead within a few minutes. It’s one of the more deadly fish in the sea but will only attack if defending itself.
The Cassowary are one of the biggest birds on the planet and reside in Australia mainly. They may not have a venom or poison like other animals on this list, but they can jump incredibly high and can be very aggressive with their sharp-clawed feet when defending young or family.
5. Poison Dart Frog
Now, the name may give it away. But if you’re out and find one of these, with it’s bright and beautiful colorings, you may be enticed to pick it up. We highly recommend you do not!
Again, another animal that doesn’t suggest danger. However, if defending themselves or asserting their dominance, Kangaroos can jump and kick with incredible force, breaking ribs and even collapsing organs of humans if hit correctly.
Despite their culture in childhood stories, Hippos are actually incredibly aggressive animals. They’re some of the few animals that will actually attack a human, not for defense of itself. With their incredible huge jaw and ability to actually run quite fast, if you see one of these, best turn the other way.
The mosquito may just be a tiny bug that bites you on holiday. But in fact, the Mosquito can carry some incredibly dangerous diseases that can leave people throwing up for hours, even paralysed and sometimes even dead if not treated properly.
9. Stone Fish
The Stone Fish is one of the most dangerous fish in the sea. Mostly in part due to the fact that you’ll likely never see it before it either defends itself or goes for you. They look like the bottom of the sea which is their defence technique.
10. Box Jelly Fish
Jelly Fish, in general, can be quite horrible to touch. However, the Box Jelly Fish is actually one of, if not the most, poisonous fish in the sea. One touch of those tentacles and you will have severe acid-like burns on your arm nd will likely go into cardiac arrest within 2-5 minutes.
