These highly endangered canids, found in the wild only in Africa, are also known as painted dogs, African wild dogs and other names but painted wolf is becoming more popular. They are genetically closer to wolves than dogs. If you google BBC Dynasties – the painted wolf episode premiered in the States over the weekend and in the UK in December.
